IAB SUMMIT19

For the 5th year, The IAB Summit19 will bring together industry leaders and executives from across the ecosystem to address how brands, publishers and marketers are creating business impact with purpose in the digital economy. Attendees will learn how best to capture, develop, and activate marketplace intelligence to drive bottom-line results, while positively impacting community, climate and cooperation.

Transformation is at the core of our strategy to uplift and shift current ways of working to create impact across our industry, country and continent and empower the media & marketing industry to thrive in a digital economy. It is imperative that this transformation agenda drives leadership and participation with a shared universal goal and country-level outcome. The great work we do, can do even more for our businesses and each citizen in our country, if we collaborate with this end in mind.

Celebrating, supporting, investing and listening to our youth is not only central to the transformation agenda and outcome above, it is also the perspective and state of mind our businesses need to thrive, and to successfully move into the next evolution required by our economy. Special focus is given to our young rock stars who are already propelling our industry forward into 2019 and beyond.

As a programme underpinned by the power of digital to transform our businesses, our country and our own individual capacity, we include the opportunity to crowdsource, to develop, to create together and learn a few new skills along the way.

We look forward to working with you to bring this front and centre at our Summit 2019.

Gareth is the Head of Research and Analytics at 24.com, a division of Media24. He began his career as a researcher at GfK NOP in London within the business and technology division, before moving to Ipsos where he headed up the brand equity R&D team.

Gareth is particularly interested in applying principles of behavioral economics to research and using these to develop cutting edge approaches. He is a member of the IAB South Africa research council.

24.com has carried out the biggest mobile study ever accomplished in South Africa. The study shows the power of mobile digital advertising in detail not shown before by existing campaign and performance measurements. Traditionally, campaign performance in digital is measured by focusing on reach (awareness) and conversion (purchase) related activities, with a attention being paid to clicks (CTR). This study shows the more holistic value add that mobile digital advertising provides that extends beyond the immediate measurement of clicks and conversions. A novel technological solution is used to measure these more holistic effects, showcasing the innovative and transformative power of digital.  Over and above this, the presentation will also generously share insights about how different modes of advertising (video, rich media, still images) should be used with different campaign objectives, and how messaging type can produce different brand lift effects.
